The Heart of the Weyto Basin

Situated between the crossroads of Weyto and the dusty plains of Turmi, Arbore is a settlement defined by the life-giving waters of the Weyto River. The name itself reflects the pride of its people: "Ar" (Bull) and "Bore" (Land).

The Land of the Bulls

For the Arbore, cattle are more than livestock; they are the center of cultural pride and wealth. While they share many traditions with their Omo Valley neighbors, their distinct looks and deep connection to the 'Land of the Bulls' set them apart as one of the most striking groups in the region.

Masters of Sorghum

While often celebrated as pastoralists, the Arbore are exceptionally skilled farmers. They have specialized in the cultivation of Sorghum, identifying and growing dozens of varieties perfectly suited to the riverine environment of the Weyto.
